Damaturu, April 30, 2023 - The Yobe State University (YSU) community is in mourning following the sudden demise of Maryam Lawan Goroma, a promising student from the Chemistry Department. Maryam tragically passed away shortly after taking her examination, leaving her family, friends, and classmates devastated.
On the evening of Thursday, April 27, 2023, Maryam collapsed unexpectedly, prompting her immediate transfer to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save her life, medical professionals confirmed her passing shortly after her arrival.
The news of Maryam's untimely demise spread quickly, with heartfelt condolences pouring in from all corners. One of her classmates, Bukar Maisandari, took to Facebook to express his sorrow and extend sympathies to Maryam's family and friends. Bukar reminisced about Maryam's health and vitality, emphasizing the shocking nature of her sudden departure. He concluded his post with a prayer for her soul to find eternal peace. Additionally, Abubakar Zaid recalled that Maryam had experienced a stomach upset during the examination, providing a potential clue to her unfortunate collapse.
The funeral prayer for Maryam Lawan Goroma has been scheduled to take place today, Friday, April 28, at her family residence in Sabon Fegi, Damaturu.
